The Kid from Binghamton

Dr. Donald A. Bronsky, DDS statue in the reading garden of the Broome County Library.
He apparently had a love of the circus, decorated his dental office like a Big Top and was called the Ringmaster of Life

The following is an excerpt from the website of Mark J. Bronsky, DMD http://www.bronskyorthodontics.com/dr-bronsky.php

The Great Exemplar:
Donald A. Bronsky, DDS taught me how to have fun every day while pursuing excellence in my work – right down to the last detail. He told me to "take delight in the people you see. See who they really are and your work will change from a profession to a labor of love." More from him: "Be relentless in furthering your education, go all-out to serve your patients and their families and make sure that you maintain your small town values in the big city. Always be the kid from Binghamton.

Urban Renewal

Binghamton's downtown area has declined over the past many years.
So when I passed this new shop today, I was encouraged that business is coming back to the City.
They were open pretty early in the day though for a clientele that probably works the night shift.

PROTEST

Anti-Fracking meets Occupy Movement
There was a rally against fracking and some of the occupiers got in on this march too.
One of them was able to tie it all together.

Starwalkers

Binghamton's version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Probably the most (and possibly the only actual) famous person
is Rod Serling of The Twilight Zone fame.

Out To Dry

The Greater Binghamton area is drying out after the devastating floods as is Kermit after spending some time in the flood waters.  The next photos show just a very small amount of the devastation that was widespread in our area.

Down Came the Rain

My dog surveying the flooding.
Note the stop sign at the end of what used to be the street to gauge the height of the water.

Water Water Everywhere

A whole lot of rain in Binghamton...
has caused the normally suburban houses to turn into lakeside property.
None of the pictured water is supposed to be there.

(photo taken with cell phone and photoshopped due to houses also being prime target for theft of real camera -
though now having to escape by boat should be a deterrent)

Duck Derby

2011 Duck Derby to benefit the Broome County Humane Society.  The ducks are dropped in the river and supposed to stay between some barriers as they float to the finish line - but there were some issues and the ducks got away.  Luckily there were several Duck Wranglers on hand.
