This was about mid point of the 1/2 marathon going over the South Washington St bridge.   

Binghamton Parade Day

Preparations are underway for Binghamton Parade Day on March 1

 The St Patrick's Day parade is the biggest holiday in Binghamton.    

The green stripe down the middle of the road marks the parade route.

Dive in Again

This is the pool at Binghamton University.   They were just finishing up scuba lessons in the pool and a swim team was on deck.   The aqua water looks so inviting.       

Dive In

On a very cold sub zero day,  a dip in the salt water pool 

at a local athletic club made it seem not quite so bad.

We do not have many stores that have windows to decorate in Binghamton, but this store always has a nice display.

Madame Butterfly

Winter Chill

It's winter in Binghamton and there is a dusting of snow on the ground and these little grape colored berries make a nice contrast to the snowy cover. 

Duck Derby

The ducks were supposed to swim down the river for a benefit for The Broome County Human Society, but the river was too high and the current too strong so the shelter dogs jumped into the sea of ducks and picked the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.    

Drink Pink

I didn't see anything pink I wanted to take a shot of today so 

I made something pink and then got to drink it too. 

POTUS

The President of the US stopped in Binghamton yesterday to do a town hall meeting at Binghamton University.     Not a lot of people actually got the in person view, but apparently many lined the streets to see the motorcade.   I stayed away from the crowd and traffic jams and just took a clip from the website broadcast.   He said he was told he had to have a "spiedies" while he was here.   Not sure if I want to feel proud or embarrassed that what we had to offer him was some marinated meat her in Bing.

B.C.

Cartoonist Johnny Hart was the creator of Comic Strip B.C. and was born in the Greater Binghamton area.    He lent his cartoons to the county -  Broome County - B.C. and this cute dinosaur adorns our county parks.   he also lent other cartoons to other area attractions.  Learn more aboutJohnny Hart here.

Old Time Rock 'n' Roll

These are at a little place called Red's Kettle Inn and have not worked in years but you used to be able to play music at the jukebox from your table.  5 cents a song. 

The also serve Hot Pies which is what people around here used to call pizza a long time ago.

A Dirty Slate

Not sure exactly what this project is, but these posters were posted on a building in Binghamton.  Guess someone wants to know what would make Bing. better.    One guy's idea is  to get "Big Belly Trash Cans".    Is that all it would take ?

2013 Martini Walk

2nd annual Martini Walk.   12 bars with 12 different little martinis.   Best ones were Citrus Bomb, Salted Caramel, Pink Panther, Strawberry Lemonade Milkshake and S'more.
