Boot plaque along the Chenango River Promenade that commemorates the legacy of Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company known as EJ's.  It was once a leading manufacturer of shoes and boots and an early proponent of welfare capitalism.   It is said that many immigrants came to this country knowing only the phrase "Which way EJ" in the hopes of finding work in this place they had heard about.  Both of my grandfathers worked for this company that no longer exists.  We have many old empty abandoned factories that remain as reminder to what once was.
