Monday Afternoon Clubhouse

This is the top of the the Sherman D. Phelps Mansion that was built in 1870 for $100,000.   The  mansion was designed by Isaac G. Perry who was later the chief architect for the State Capitol Building in Albany, NY.   Sherman D. Phelps was a banker, Republican Elector for Abraham Lincoln and mayor of the City of Binghamton. The building was purchased in 1905 by the Monday Afternoon Club.  It later transferred ownership to the Phelps Mansion Foundation, but the civic organization still holds its meetings there.
